Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. It is not like Halloween, where despite an interesting history, most people just put on Halloween, get candy, and leave it at that. There really wasn't a "first April Fool's Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar. Some believe it sort of evolved simultaneously in several cultures at the same time, from celebrations involving the first day of spring. Just keep in mind, April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!

April is the fourth month of the year

It has 30 days

It is derived from the Latin word 'aperire' which means to open

(A reference to Spring and opening of the floral buds)

╢  BIRTHSTONE:  Diamond

Today is before me, and I can make progress.

I will begin with a quiet prayer and

a moment or two of meditation.

Look for beauty today, in yourself, and in a friend,

and you will indeed find it.

Believe in recovery, believe in your own. When you

believe in success, you will find it. There

is magic in believing.

Left Over Roast Beef Dish

Slice fresh carrots, enough to cover the bottom of a casserole dish.
Then slice potatoes enough to cover carrots, then slice a large
onion over that. Slice enough roast beef over that. Then pour 1 can
of mushroom soup (rinse can with milk) over it.
Bake until carrots and potoatoes are done.
When some recipes call for mushroom soup, I buy the
"golden" mushroom soup by Campbell Soups. Makes a
wonderful gravy in many dishes. I think it would be good
in this one for sure.
