Calendar Today by Lois

I don't know how many of you make goodies and put
in the Ziplock or just bags of any kind, but this site has
some really cute toppers you can print out and make
those goodies look festive and awesome looks for
gift giving. I make the Chex and other misc snacks and
it goes a long way too. My printer loves me - :-))
Hope someone can use.
Bag Toppers

This year I have overheard a few people talk of not sending
Christmas cards for one reason or another. The one that I
heard and prompted me to include this in today's page is
below. I overheard, "I am not throwing my money away as
that is usually what happens to the cards I send". Well,
don't throw them away! Below is a program to help. I do
know there is other programs out there also that recycle
Christmas cards. For our caramel business I use Christmas
cards I have received and cut out the pretty part of them
and they are used for note or gift cards for packages or
just to tuck in a gift and such. Here is the information
if you are interested. Also use the flat-rate shipping boxes
the postal service offers to keep your cost of shipping
down some. Thanks for looking.

Recycled Card Program History
Over thirty years ago, wishing to show our donors appreciation for making St. Jude’s Ranch for Children possible, the idea was conceived for turning the previous year’s Christmas cards into “new” cards for the coming season. The recipients were so delighted with their unique “thank you,” they requested the children sell them the special cards. And so, the St. Jude’s Ranch Recycled Card Program was born.
Since then, the program expanded to include all occasion greeting cards…just about anything that starts with a used greeting card. People from all over the world have sent us their used cards!
Operated by Kids’ Corp., a program for the children at St. Jude’s Ranch to learn entrepreneurship skills, the children participate in making the new cards by removing the front and attaching a new back. The result is a beautiful new card made by the children and volunteers. The benefits are two-fold: customers receive “green” holiday cards for use and the children receive payment for their work and learn the benefits and importance of “going green”.
The ongoing support for the Recycled Card Program has been overwhelming! The Program grew and soon we were receiving over one million cards. We have since redesigned the process to more efficiently manage the increased production from the increased volume and we welcome your submissions!
NOTE: We currently have an increased need for both Birthday and Thank You card submissions.

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world,
and behold, everything is softer
and more beautiful.
~Norman Vincent Peale

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has
come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable
; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year,
when men and women seem by one consent to open their
shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them
as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and
not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.
~Charles Dickens

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions
of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the
pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and
the traveler, thousands of miles away,
back to his own fire-side and his quiet home!
~Charles Dickens

Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and
love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year
for having, in spirit, become a child again
at Christmas-time.
~Laura Ingalls Wilder

At Christmas, all roads lead home.
~Marjorie Holmes
